An anonymized string based on your email address (the so-called hash) can be sent to Gravatar to verify that you are using it. Gravatar's privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture is publicly visible in the context of your comment.

If you're a registered user and upload images to your site, you should avoid uploading images with location EXIF tags. Visitors to the site can download and read the full location data from the images on the site.
